Founded in 1914 in Providence, Rhode Island, Johnson & Wales University
has developed an international reputation for excellence in instruction,
faculty and facilities -- at campuses in Providence, Denver, Colorado,
North Miami Florida, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Johnson & Wales
University is known as one of America's finest career preparatory institutes

programs in the country, which not only prepares students to enter their
degree programs in the University, but also awards them with course
credit towards their major. As English becomes more and more the language
of international business, no professional person can afford not to
understand and speak English.
Calendar
Three 11-week terms are scheduled: Fall (begins September), Winter (begins
December), and Spring (begins March).
Certificates or Degrees Offered
The University offers the undergraduate Associate of Science (A.S.)
Degree (two years), the Bachelor of Science. (B.S. Degree (four years)
, and the graduate masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) one or
two years). The ESL program offers a Certificate of Completion.
Course Description
Because the University offers different programs at multiple campuses,
we advise potential applicants to request information from the International
Admissions Office at the campus location of choice.
Total Enrollment
The University's total enrollment, at all campuses is over 16,000 students.
Of these, over 1,000 are international students from 90 different countries.
Certificate or Degree Requirements
English proficiency is required to enter all academic programs of the
University. Graduation from secondary school, or an equivalency diploma,
is required of all students entering A.S. or B.S. programs. Graduation
from college with a bachelor's degree and a cumulative grade point average
of 2.75 or better is required of all students entering the Master's
programs.
Entrance Tests Required
Standardized achievements tests, such as the SAT are not required. We
believe that the best index of an applicant's ability and willingness
to learn is the overall record reflected in his or her transcripts and
other high school achievements. However, applicants whose first language
is not English must take the TOEFL. A score of 550 (210 computer-based)
or higher is required to enter a degree program. If the applicant cannot
take the TOEFL, he or she may take the University TOEFL test at our
institution.
Application Materials Requested
Applicants to the University should supply the following (with English
translations):
The International Admission Application, specifying the desired degree
program(s), dates, and whether ESL is required;
A certified bank statement or government sponsorship letter verifying
financial support for one academic year;
TOEFL results with a minimum 550 score on the written test or 210 on
the computerized TOEFL; Official documentation of higher secondary (high
school completion);
For transfer credit; complete transcripts, marksheets, diplomas or certificates
from previous studies, along with course descriptions.
Application Deadlines for Foreign Students
Students may apply to enter for any of the three terms. Although there
is no admissions deadline, all application materials should reach the
International Admissions Office at least three months before the term
begins. For the Fall term, all materials should be submitted by the
end of June.

Student Services
With the University Athletic and Recreation Center at the Harborside
campus in Providence, Johnson & Wales is renewing its dedication
to creating a sense of community for the students, faculty and staff.
The facility houses a student center and recreation room, four basketball
courts, locker rooms, an aerobics room, a state-of-the-art fitness center,
seating for 15,00 and a bounty of space available for intramural programs.
All four campuses offer various programs and facilities conducive to
college students needs and activities.
Housing
Housing is provided in the University's comfortable residence halls
and apartments.
Climate and Geography
Since its opening in 1914, Johnson & Wales University's first and
largest campus has been in Providence, Rhode Island, a dynamic and growing
city in southern New England. Providence is one hour to Boston and just
over 3 hours to New York by car.
Our campus in the city of North Miami, Florida is another measure of our dramatic growth in the past 25 years. With over 1,600 students, this campus offers a new student library, computer labs, state-of-the-art facilities, and student housing built to accommodate a growing student population.

JWU's campus in Charlotte, North Carolina is in the heart of uptown
Charlotte, the second largest financial district in the U.S. This city
has much to offer: a moderate year-round climate, a thriving arts community
and professional sports teams. Nearly 300 of the nations' Fortune 500
companies have offices in Charlotte. Average temperature is 45 degrees
(7 C) in winter and 80 degrees (27 C) in summer. This campus offers
associate and bachelor's degrees in business, hospitality, and culinary

This campus is our newest campus which opened in September 2000. On
30 beautiful acres, our student union, dining center, athletic facility,
and newly renovated residence and academic halls are in the midst of
a vibrant community, both a tourist destination and a business center.

the applicant chooses.
