The advantages of a large university in a personal, caring atmosphere

International Focus

Ohio University has a long and rich history in international education, with the first international student graduating from the University in 1895. The University prides itself on being a “home away from home” for its international students. To do so, it provides them with numerous services to help ease the transition into life in the United States, offers support throughout their time on campus, and maintains an ongoing relationship with them as alumni. The Office of International Student & Faculty Services offers orientation, immigration assistance, and information on campus and community services. Students also have access to Academic Advising, Career Services, Student Health Services, and more.

A wide variety of international events take place on campus every year. These range from academic conferences and internationally-focused guest lectures to social events such as international dinners, dances, and holiday celebrations. The annual International Week, a celebration of diversity and culture, is the largest international event on campus. The week concludes with the International Street Fair—a day-long celebration of sights, sounds, and tastes of international food, culture, and the arts.
