Higher Education in Connecticut

The state of Connecticut has some of the most diverse colleges in the United States of America. A student in Connecticut has the option to attend an Ivy League university such as Yale, a state-sponsored institution like the University of Connecticut and choose amongst its several campuses, or indulge in a plethora of enrichment or career programs offered by its two-dozen community and two-year independent colleges. There is a school or program dedicated to almost every genre of study, and this eclectic collection of subjects create a melting pot of students within the state’s academic institutions.

The state of Connecticut is home to 5 public postsecondary education systems. The University of Connecticut has three different campuses in addition to a health center and law school. Connecticut State University is divided amongst four branches: Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western. The Community-Technical Colleges of Connecticut contain 12 community colleges and Charter Oak State College offers an external degree program. In total Connecticut has 46 higher education institutions.

The remainder of Connecticut’s postsecondary education system is composed of 72 private occupational schools. (Second sentence deleted).
