STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
The University of Montana - Missoula
Students can choose from 52 undergraduate degrees, 56 master's degrees,
and 13 doctoral degrees at The University of Montana-Missoula, the state's
leading liberal arts institution. The University consists of the College
of Arts and Sciences, Davidson Honors College, College of Technology,
and seven professional schools: Business Administration, Fine Arts, Education,
Forestry, Journalism, Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences, and Law.
The University of Montana - Western
Since 1893 Western Montana College has had a tradition of excellence in
undergraduate education. The unique mission of Western emphasizes experiential
learning that combines theory and practice through projects and field
experiences. This mission infuses Western's Curriculum: in teacher education
programs with a century-long tradition for excellence; in the interdisciplinary
arts and sciences; in business and tourism programs; and in Western's
early childhood program. Within these academic areas a number of two and
four year options are available to students to prepare them for a wide
variety of career options. Western also serves as the home of the off-campus
coordinator of the University of Montana-Missoula masters program in education.
Montana Tech of The University of Montana
Founded in Butte in 1889 as the Montana School of Mines, Montana Tech
as a reputation as one of the finest science and engineering colleges
in America. Montana's geologic and hydrogeologic research arm, the Bureau
of Mines and Geology, is a department of the College. While still focusing
on its original programs in minerals and energy engineering, Montana Tech
has expanded its offerings to include new science; engineering, computer
science, technical communication, and business programs all designed to
meet the needs of today's rapidly changing world. The College's two-year
program provides occupational and technical opportunities at the associate
degree level.
Montana State University - Bozeman
Montana State University's main campus in Bozeman is the state's oldest
public institution and largest single campus, offering 48 Bachelors degrees,
51 Masters degrees and 18 doctoral degrees. The seven colleges of the
university include nationally accredited colleges of Engineering, Arts
and Architecture, Business and Nursing. As the state's land grant university,
MSU is dedicated to serving the citizens and communities of Montana Through
8 Agricultural Experiment Stations, 60 County Extension Offices, KUSM-Public
Television and the Museum of the Rockies.
Montana State University - Billings
Montana State University-Billings is a comprehensive, regional, public
university serving the educational needs of Montanans and is accessible
to all who are qualified. The campus consists of five colleges: Arts and
Sciences, Business, Education & Human Services, Technology and Professional
Studies & Lifelong Learning. MSU-Billings provides two-year educational
programs and baccalaureate and graduate programs through the master's
level in business, teacher training, special education and related areas.
MSU-Billings serves Montana through a multifaceted commitment to provide
high quality undergraduate and graduate programs; maintain an active community
of learners in teaching, research, scholarship and creative endeavor;
provide a strong and expanding program of outreach to the state
and region; and a strong public service mission as reflected in the programs
and activities of the Montana Center on Disabilities and KEMC/KBMC Public
Radio.
Montana State University - Northern
Montana State University-Northern maintains instruction at the associate,
baccalaureate, and master's levels, and includes an extended campus in
Great Falls along with an extensive interactive distance network. Degree
programs provide both technology and a liberal education with disciplines
in business, nursing, technology, teacher education, sciences, and humanities.
MSU-Northern serves an area that includes four Indian reservations and
functions as a cultural resource and continuing education center for north-central
Montana.
